In order of my preference:
  1. Goldfinger
Excellent direction, acting, story. Great lines, great cars. There is nothing wrong with this film.
  2. Goldeneye
Brings 007 into the post-Cold War era with great success. Has a female M and stronger female characters, and even pokes fun at Bond's chauvinism. Also, Brosnan is damn good. It's a shame the rest of the Brosnan ones are rubbish.
  3. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
Everyone hates this and calls Lazenby the worst Bond. I think this is unfair. I think he was bloody good. He had some bad dialogue, but that was the script's fault. But, even so, I reckon this has the best plot and a couple of the best scenes. Apparently, Lazenby turned down an offer to make more Bond films, I wish he hadn't.
  4. Licence To Kill
Another one that everyone disagrees on. Yes, this film has some shocking moments and awful one-liners, but IMO Dalton is the most true to the Bond character. Everyone thinks of Bond as the invulnerable Connery, but I think Dalton fits the character in the books. He gets bashed, he has weaknesses, and he grieves for his friends.
  5. From Russia, With Love
The best film involving SPECTRE. It has the simplest plot for any Bond film and action fans may find it boring, but it's filmed beautifully and I love it.

Edit: I just realised I didn't list a Moore film. So I should mention that The Spy Who Loved Me is very good. I like a couple others of his too.

The worst is definitely Moonraker, and after that it's probably a tie between View To A Kill and Diamonds Are Forever. It pains me to say that about VTAK though, as Christopher Walken plays the bad guy and he is the Best. Bond. Villian. Ever.
Also, Never Say Never Again (Connery's comeback in 1980) sucked but was unofficial so I'm not counting it.

So even though most people prefer Connery, followed by Moore, they made a lot of crap films too. I think some people have rose coloured glasses when it comes to Connery especially, most of those SPECTRE films were ordinary, and very similar to each other. I love them both in their good films, though. Brosnan gets the worst deal, he made one fantastic film then a few crap ones. But then, I suppose (guess) he made the most money of them all.

And that's my opinion on 007. Now you go. Feel free to bash the entire franchise as sexist, racist and western-centric. Just don't dis The Walken.

I love Moonraker for its sheer cheesiness and obvious attempts to cash in on the Star Wars craze. Richard Kiel is one of the world's great gargantuan actors. Forget Andre the Giant and that fella from Bug Fish. Jaws is the dude, esp in Happy Gilmore.

Worst one is the one that was on telly recently with Denise Richards in it.

OHMSS was a cracker. Apparently George turned down more movies coz he didn't want to be typecast. Last time I saw him in action was a foxtel soft porn movie (you know the ones that sometimes come on accidently when the Sky Racing service finishes for the night).

I loved early Roger Moore-Bond, but then he was the Bond of my era. Live and Let Die would be my favourite.

the newer bond films have thoughrally shat over the style and class that Connery and Moore brought to 007. The last good bond film was indeed Goldeneye, but the whole 'uber-satelite' plot has been used to death. Goldfinger was indeed the best, but i have to disagree with you on Licence to kill. Moonraker was absolute crap, as it tried to bring bond into the sci-fi genre, and Jaws was the worst bad-guy ever. Oddjob was a class adversary for bond, but thats only because he was small and threw his hat. personally i like On Her Majesty's Secret Service but few share my opinion. i hate people that dis my opinion on bond films because of my age, but i was a hardcore bond fan in my youth. still love the movies now, but recent attributes have been rather poor and repedetive.

conclusion: 007 rocks, no questions about it, fuck anyone who thinks otherwise.

Chains. I just remembered that Lex Luthor wrapped a chain with kryptonite on it around Superman's neck.

Very erotic.

I see what you did there.

Stuporman: I quite like Live And Let Die. Bond is a bit of a bad bloke though when he tricks Solitaire (best bond double-entendre name ever) to have sex with him through Tarot, when her power relies on her virginity. Also, Jane Seymour was hot in Dr Quinn, but in 1973 she was incredible.
Nice soundtrack, too.

Not to mention that it was a semi-remake of Thunderball anyway.

1. Goldfinger
2. Doctor No (Despite being the first I don't think it was ever matched for sheer coolness - the Bond Theme typically only got used for action setpieces after this one, but here it plays just whenever Sean is swaggering about)
3. Thunderball
4. You Only Live Twice (Ninjas!)
5. Moonraker (Movies where they send the hero to space are always cheesy great - I also liked Jason X)

Nobody liked Thunderball or You Only Live Twice. I don't know why.

It's a funny one for me too, I don't really love the film that much, but I've read some of the books and it just seemed to me that Dalton's character finally brought the 'real' Bond to the screen. So I only really include it because it, OHMSS and The Living Daylights are the only films in which Bond's character is really fleshed out.

Incidentally, Daylights is another of those films that sympathise with Afghan 'freedom fighters' before we called them 'terrorists'.

According to Sick Boy in Trainspotting, Thunderball did OK.

Sick Boy wrote:
Goldfinger's better than Dr. No. Both of them are a lot better than Diamonds are Forever - a judgement reflected in its relative poor showing at the box office, in which field, of course, Thunderball was a notable success.

I would say, in those days, he was a muscular actor, in every sense, with all the presence of someone like Cooper or Lancaster, but combined with a sly with to make him a formidable romantic lead, closer in that respect to Cary Grant.

I always thought Bond was better when his character wasn't so fleshed out, in a way. Like, this bloke's too cool to even have a personality, haha. That's why Licence To Kill wasn't too great. The personal vendetta storyline didn't do it for me.

1) Goldeneye
2) Goldfinger
3) Licence To Kill
4) On Her Majesty's Secret Service

Goldeneye only ranks above Goldfinger ebcause i used to kick my brothers ass on the 64 game. I played the short guy.
I Definatly didnt rate "The World is not Enough" though.

Who would you say is the Best Bond? I'd have to say i liked Sean Connery.

shit, i forgot about You Only Live Twice! that is a good film, but moonraker still sucked. bond is cheesy enough with his puns without having to go into space.

and the only good scene in Jason X was when the chicks nipple fell off, and i can only relate to that through personal experiences.

Dalton and Connery were the best Bonds, but I think Connery had better scripts. Poor Dalton got stuck with some bad late 80s/early 90s shit, but did justice to Bond as a character.

Moonraker, fuck that dog deserves a thread all of its own. "how to make an incoherent movie with zero plot and unworkable comedy based on a stale premise". that said, the whole Bond concept is brilliant. Octopussy rules. the games are tops.

Fallon: Jason X was probably one of the better ones. it was even a little scary in places.

I love bond films.

Goldfinger, From Russia with Love and Diamnds are Forever would be my favourites.

I don't go much on the Pierce Brosnan films except for Goldeneye, but i love the cheesiness of the Roger Moore films. The Spy Who Loved Me, Octopussy and For your Eyes Only were great. Crap acting but great stunts.

Bests villian would be a toss up between Christopher Walkin in A view to a Kill or the two gay hitmen in Diamonds Are Forever.

Yea Oddjob was cool, actually all the villians were generally pretty good. Jaws was another great villian. He was my favourite for years. I watched Moonraker and The Spy Who Loved Me countless times just for Jaws.

But what about memberable quotes:

"That's a nice little nothing your all most wearing"

"I thought Christmas only came once a year !"

"Do you expect me to talk ?"
"No Mr Bond, i expect you to die"

"What are you doing bond ??"
"Well, i'm keeping the British end up sir"
