Colbie Caillat - Coco

Upon first glance I thought the girl on the album cover was Jennifer Aniston and with all honesty it didn't inspire me to believe that this album was going to hold anything of any quality. I wasn't too far wrong.

After a first listen through you can understand why this 21 year old wholesome looking Californian girl is giving music a go. Why not? Everyone else is. Her songs-yes she did in fact co-write most of them- are filled with typical 'you and me' lyrics about love and loss but hit a low point with lines like "When you kiss my nose the feeling shows" and "Start in my toes make me crinkle my toes" that are from her release 'Bubbly'.

She sounds like a bit of a mix between any random female acoustic reggae dabbling pop artist you can point your finger at. Perhaps a bit of Joss Stone amalgamating into a new version of Jack Johnson- but don't hold me to that extremely generous comparison too strictly.

Colbie's MySpace that 'Caillat' rhymes with 'ballet' and that she is on tour with the Goo Goo Dolls and that she thinks her music sounds like "Sweet honey flowing over rocks". Yeah, ok, sure thing. Give Coco a listen if you like your pop with an overly cheesy flavor or if you are one of those people that judge a book/album by it's cover because it will look nice on the shelf.
