A Devil Amongst The Tailors - Learning to Swim (Album)
Sit back relax and let yourself unwind – it’s summertime according to A Devil Amongst The Tailors, a hip-hop group from Adelaide having just released their debut album Learning to Swim this Aussie group is catching the eyes and ears of everyone that is lucky enough to come under their spell. It doesn’t even matter that they’re a couple of season out, and that it’s actually winter, after a late release ‘cos these guys are a breath of fresh air on the Aussie hip-hop scene. Independent and original their beats are relaxed and aren’t pretentious like so many others out there; this album is fresh, and enjoyment they got from making it transfers onto you - I’ll be the first to admit that I was up testing out their dance moves from Two Left Feet – no shame in that, I assure you you’ll do the same! Not to mention laughing out loud as the story behind Miss Perfect unravels itself…no spoilers here folks!
This brave new group walked a thin line and played high stakes by producing and financing their debut album in their home studio, however, the results speak for themselves; A Devil Amongst The Tailors are creating a name for themselves as a superior act on the Aussie music scene, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they were snapped up internationally…but these down to earth guys are just “stoked to make an album [they] love”.
Listening through all the tracks it brings back memories of the summertime, and of playing backyard cricket with your mates while you knock down a few beers and some fish ‘n’ chips, creating what is essential a summer album in winter. If there was one CD I’d encourage you to buy this year – it would be this one. I haven’t been this impressed with an album in a long time, not only are you getting your moneys worth with some awesome tracks, your supporting what may well be Australia’s most talented emerging hip-hop group…a fair deal, don’t you think? So, sit back relax, and let yourself unwind with the help of A Devil Amongst The Tailors – you won’t be disappointed!
