Murder at Mercy is an Australian rock band from Gladstone, Queensland. Formed in 2007, this three piece line up consists of Jackson Nicholson (Vocals, Guitar), Jake Hadlow (Drums, vocals), and Adam West (Bass, vocals)

Band founder Jackson Nicholson is no stranger to the music industry; progeny of Maurice Nicholson, who was back in the mid 80s, part of the Sydney local music scene as front-man for the infamous covers rock ‘n’ roll band The Vagabonds.

Jackson’s musical upbringing began to thrive from the moment he nailed 12 bar blues on acoustic guitar at the age of 13; he has since developed to become creatively musically gifted in arranging material, writing lyrics, and an ability to play an array of musical instruments.

In one of his earlier tracks (not on this demo), titled ‘Caught in Traffic’, Nicholson compactly wrote, arranged then performed the piece in the studio – the song later reached the top 20 in JJJ unearthed. Not bad for a 17 year old.

Murder at Mercy debut is their 4 song self titled demo CD. Evidently recorded on a low budget, but not to be confused for a lack of musical quality, they have presented us with some good rock and roll infused tracks based on punk ethics.

The lyrics tell a thrilling tale of murder, mystery and insanely menacing madness. These themes provide an excellent backdrop for manic guitar riffs, and a thundering collaboration from the bass department.

Although the band members have had an upbringing in blues infused metal and traditional punk combination, they are still embryonic, and in time if musically and personally nourished appropriately they will be a band for the next generation.
