Pat Nicholson - Roll With It

Pat Nicholson is credited with the lyrics and the production of his debut release Roll With It. The album was recorded and mixed by Matt Sampson in Bristol, England during the winter of 2011.

Roll With It is a catalogue of personal events from love and joy, to anguish and destruction. Opening with the song “Walk and Smile”, you can feel the soul in the anecdote told in fine melody.

Another track, “I Need You” begins with the classical blues bar pattern on guitar and backed by fine bass and percussion. Vocals are raspy and lyrics are catchy and the tempo is lifted for the song “I’ve Been Struggling”. This song goes into a bit deeper blues with some grunt. I really could imagine some female harmonies lifting taking this tune to a new height.

Overall I enjoyed the storytelling in these songs, they complimented the array of instruments and rhythm throughout. Pat stayed in his comfort zone with most of the time with his vocals, and I would like to see him push himself in this area and try something different on a few of the songs because he has got what it takes.

It's no wonder Pat Nicholson's new release Roll With It is overflowing with an array of influences of musical talents and personal experiences.
