Fighterpilot could be the next big thing to come out of Australia. Unfortunately, in my opinion, this album was just too much music that I couldn’t really get into because it sounded too much like music I’d already heard. It didn’t really grab me as anything unique or super interesting. I think the singer, Daniel Radell, has an impressive voice however.

From the first song I couldn’t help shaking an impression of a slightly heavier Faith No More but without the edge. The guitar solos while impressive became a bit redundant after a while.

Maybe this album just needs time to grow more on me. Maybe they just sound too much like other bands with not enough of their own sound. Maybe the next album will have a bit more developed and unique sound.

I could be being too judgemental. I like music that I can listen to and give all my attention to. This just wasn’t it for me. It did make not too bad background music though. I think a few more years of experience and this band will be really good and I can see them going far in the Australian music scene. From what I’ve heard they are quite good live and seeing them live could put their music in a different context for me.

Listen to this band if you like the Stone Temple Pilots, Guns ‘n’ Roses, and other bands of that nature.
