CHILDREN COLLIDE SKELETON DANCE LADYTRON REMIX

Electro remixes of rock singles are becoming the new 'it' thing these days. Perhaps it was the monster Dukes of Windsor hit The Others (remixed by TV Rock) that rocketed Dukes to mainstream success and could be hear from Toorak to Brunswick; perhaps people are just into musical inbreeding. Whatever the reason, it's coming up trumps thus far.

Metallic guitar strings only just hide behind a booming bass track, provided by none other than UK electroclash giants Ladytron. Children Collide singer Johnny's lazy vocals come in, not with a bang but with a whimper; but around 0:30 turn to rock and roll cries of excitement. The near-industrial sounding noises only add to the dark, forthcoming tone of the single, before and after electronic re-jiggering.

Ladytron have breathed new life into what was before a standard indie rock track. Although the bass and electric sound effects tend to blanket the nuances of Johnny's vocals, it could become the next dancefloor crossover hit. Wait and see...
