Groove Armada - Soundboy Rock

What can you say about Groove Armada that hasn’t already been said? This dynamic duo just keeps producing catchy rhythms and ear grabbing beats. Soundboy Rock is their seventh album release – that’s not counting the myriad of compilations the group dabble in either.

Soundboy Rock is a little low key compared to Groove Armada’s previous works. Perhaps it proves they are mere mortals like the rest of us, giving us the impression Andy and Tom have perhaps grown a little tired of the old “reach for the lasers” thumping bass and vocal crescendos.

Having said that, the single 'Get Down' gives its best shot at making you nod in time with the thick bass and hip hop inspired rhythms. The film clip is a cracker – you get to see a few bunnies gettin’ down and doing what rabbits do – by the end of the clip there’s a whole crowd of bunnies! You’ll also find a few tracks dragging out the ever faithful; and guaranteed get your ass on the dance floor disco beat.
Groove Armada’s MC Mad joins in on title track 'Soundboy Rock' and together they produce a low key and smouldering reggae beat.

Quite a few guest artists make an appearance, but you would never really know unless you read the liner notes – it’s the understated beauty of Groove Armada’s music that keep the fans keen after 10 years.

Soundboy Rock is a solid album. Like most of Groove Armada’s releases, this album manages to get the mix of laid back melodic tracks, and pulsating bass driven toe tappers just right. Its one hour and 15 tracks of utter listening pleasure.
