Wildes, The - The Wildes (Album)
This band’s music fits perfectly into the classic folk/country genre; so before reviewing this piece, I had to put my personal musical taste aside. Once I did this, I actually didn’t mind the majority of tracks on their album; all of their songs have the same old school gun slinging cowboy theme to them; which is toe tapping fun for the most part.
The Wildes have definately got some catchy guitar riffs and solid drum beats; because it is country music, all the instruments are very slow and melodic; featuring sounds from violins, acoustic and occasionally electric guitars. The lead vocalist has a great voice, it’s very deep and colourful, suiting their music style perfectly.Unfortunately many of the tracks presented on the album are depressing, such as opening song Ballad Of A Young Married Man; featuring deep instrumental work, which at pointes plays a long church bell, giving you the feeling you’re in a dusk showdown. These sad tracks have lyrics revolving around lost loves, death, crying and of course gunshot wounds; which is a downer.
The rest have catchy upbeats sounds; Bare Bones is a cheerful country track, with twanging guitar riffs, upbeat drums, fast paced violin work and placid vocals focusing on, of course a beautiful girl; which I found entertaining. For country music fans check out The Wildes self titled release, it features a great variety of different musical angles within their genre. Now after listening to this album; I have to go and rustle me up some cowgirls, Yeehaar!
