Dancing sober makes me nervous. However, this double a-side made me want to dance. It makes me want to dance like a fool. ‘Shoot the Lights Out’ especially has been an absolute pleasure to listen to repeatedly. It puts out some truly infectious chorus lyrics that will have you humming for the rest of your life. The backing do re mi vocals will not leave your head without a damned vicious fight.

I definitely prefer ‘Shoot the Lights Out’ to ‘Toys.’ It’s the chorus that hooked me in. To me, ‘Toys’ lacked the hook that ‘Shoot the Lights Out’ smacks you with. Sadly, it’s the filler on this two song single. That isn’t to suggest that ‘Toys’ is a bad song, it’s just not as good as ‘Shoot the Lights Out.’

My main point of appreciation for Flamingo Crash is that you can only sense their influences. They don’t wear what they love and came from like a heart on their sleeves. The music is somehow ingeniously original, but not in a way that it disturbs the ear and seems alien. They’re very clever types, and if you find you could fancy their art-pop shtick, buy their stuff. I promise you’ll seem cooler to your indie type friends.

I am seriously eagerly awaiting an album – the EP and the singles just haven’t been enough. If you’re like me and can’t hold your insides in waiting for an album, get off your patoote and get out and see these guys live. I can assure you that the Flamingo Crash experience is effervescent and jovial with a hint of sexual undertones. If you like music, I’d bet you’ll like this.

I would surmise that ‘Shoot the Lights Out’ and ‘Toys’ is pop music for those who want to vomit on Britney and her sickly posse.
