me band westward backwards

Officially frothing at the mouth with excitement and struggling to stay seated. This would be a fair description of how ruffled in my own limbs I became while listening to just one demo track from Melbourne band, [Me].

The song in question for my tangled demeanor is Westward Backwards, a chaotic, yet exquisitely balanced brilliance of theatrical explosion; a private musical for my eardrums. Composed of hammering piano drives, tension-building eclectic orchestrations and an almost ludicrous vocal ability that deserves comparison to the late-great Freddy Mercury. This in itself has got to be the master of all master compliments, but I will go on because I’m just so damn appreciative of this band right now.

[Me] is made up of Luke Ferris, Michael Godde, Mike Rogers and Damian Tapley, and have instantly proved to exude a sheer volume and density in their sound that can only see them being compared to the likes of Muse or Queen. Somehow these guys do all this while showcasing superb instrumentalism at its absolute finest. I can only imagine how this translates over to a live show, and again with the frothing at the mouth.

What makes this band even more exciting is the fact that they are currently writing and recording material for their debut album that, judging by Westward Backwards, is just about guaranteed to knock a whole heap of socks off. In the meantime, every time I think of something outrageously brilliant, I’ll just think of [Me].
