Basic Shape - White Skin (Album)
The smooth and eclectic sound of Melbourne band Basic Shape’s debut single White Skin should be appreciated whilst stargazing with a loved one in a secluded park, accompanied with a glass of merlot (Basic Shape are definitely a band whom you would love to see perform at a winery estate for the mood and atmosphere!).
Whilst it is not always possible to do this in the physical sense, this song certainly allows escaping there emotionally. White Skin’s rich textures enveloped with melodic harmonies can certainly be compared to a fine wine.
Embracing the musical formula that has led Gomez and Augie March to such fame, Basic Shape is a folk rock quintet with personality. Four of the five members are vocalists, unifying the band’s sound. They sound inviting, you too feel as though you are an extension of the band.
White Skin is a highly appropriate first single from their debut album as it captures your attention from the first lyrics. Gerry Eeman’s hauntingly delicious voice will no doubt resonate with you well after the song ends. There is simplicity to this song that makes it extraordinarily easy to enjoy. Do not look here for complexity; this song is designed to settle your stress and relax the soul.
