For Sydney based group Starky, album 2 and the next phase of their career began at Blaenpant, an 18th Century Georgian mansion on the windswept west coast of Wales.
Starky (Beau Cassidy voice/guitars/keyboards, Nick Neal bass, Saul Foster drumset, Johnny Wilson guitar and Peter Farley - keyboards) wanted a producer who could create something big sonically without reverting to countless overdubs or fancy studio trickery. In Wales they hooked up with Dave Eringa, producer for the likes of Idlewild, Manic Street Preachers and Suede. He understood the album the band wanted to make and was enthusiastic about the tunes. Eringa also had the idea of converting an 18th Century Georgian mansion into a recording studio.
The Blaenpant sessions were an incredibly creative and productive time for the band. Their sound had matured and grown so much since their first record 2 years ago and the recording of the new material re-invigorated the band.
The 3 songs featured on the Starky EP are taken from the album sessions and give the listener a taste of whats to come when the album is released.
