Watch out Perth! Skull & Bones Records have put together a showcase of three of its most brutal bands for three shows of metal mayhem from 4-6 July, 2008. Two Perth locals -– Anime Fire and Gallows For Grace – will be joined by Newcastle natives, Coma Lies for two 18+ and one All Ages shows.
Skull and Bones’ newest signing is Perth locals, Gallows For Grace. Formed in early 2006, the band combines elements of technical, brutal and melodic death metal with the thunderous sounds of slam and grind. In this time they’ve played alongside Job For A Cowboy (USA), Darkest Hour (USA), Picture The End, and The Amity Affliction, among many others. Their debut EP, ‘A Process For The Destruction Of Tomorrow’ will be released mid-2008 through Skull & Bones.
With anarchic breakdowns and precision dissonance infused with graceful, atmospheric swells, noise-core machine Coma Lies have smashed the road in support of their debut EP ‘A Churchwell Killing’ since it’s release on Skull & Bones in 2006. The band recently recorded a new track for the ‘A Pirate’s Life’ compilation, and a four-track demo of new material, while on tour in Brisbane, which will soon be available at shows.
Taking time out from writing their second release to headline these shows will be Perth hardcore meets drum and bass meets metal four piece Anime Fire. Recently posted on the band’s MySpace blog was a comment on the new material: “the new material is going to be a change from our current formula, as always a constant growth should be expected.” These shows will be Anime Fire’s return to the Perth live circuit following a second successful east coast tour in support of their current release, ‘Where The Wolves Fear To Tread’. The new material is expected to be released late-2008/early-2009 through Skull & Bones.
Skull & Bones Records is a Brisbane based label with a roster that boasts some of Australia’s best metal, hardcore and screamo talent, including the three bands featured in the showcase, A Secret Death, Benneson Theory and Art Vandelay. On April 26, they released ‘A Pirate’s Life’, a 21-track label sampler which shows off the best the label has to offer, from both past and present.
