Winterpark announce new album release
» Winterpark announce new album release - September 29, 2008
Melbourne’s Winterpark will independently release its second album Falling Men and Flying Dreams via MGM on 18 October 2008.
Featuring a perfect slice of electro pop in the form of radio single ‘Hooked’, the album takes the listener across contrasting musical landscapes through bittersweet pop, fragile glitch, and drowned-in-sound shoe-gaze. Melbourne audiences can be amongst the first to hear these tracks when Winterpark preview the album at Ding Dong Lounge on Saturday 11 October, as part of ‘Weekender’.
Conceived and tested on the road during a three month round-the-world adventure, which saw Winterpark play stages in New York, London, Berlin, Prague, Paris, Tokyo, Helsinki, and the Iceland Airwaves Festival, Falling Men and Flying Dreams was mixed by Casey Rice (Dirty Three/Tortoise/Grand Salvo) and mastered by Roger Siebel (!!!/Death Cab for Cutie/Modest Mouse).
Featuring the guitars and programming of Matt Ridgway and the vocals of Jordy Hewitt, the album delivers on the promise of the band’s 2007 debut, One Night Alone - an album that provided the soundtrack for the dramatic closing scene of the first episode of Channel 9’s Underbelly series.
Recipients of a Vic Rocks ‘Music Career Building’ grant, which enabled Winterpark to fund the mixing and mastering of Falling Men and Flying Dreams, the band is gearing up for a series of east coast album launches in November. Stay tuned for further details!
