In the last two years New Jersey's Gaslight Anthem have accomplished more than most bands have in 10. Their sole full-length to date (2007's SINK OR SWIM on XOXO / Resist Records), was mentioned on dozens of 2007's year-end "Best Of" lists, thanks to 12 tracks that radiated a striking authenticity while showcasing the band's vibrant rock n roll heart and poignant blues-inflected lyricism.
Gaslight Anthem played over 200 shows in 2007 in the US and Europe with some of the biggest names in the punk scene, including Against Me!, The Loved Ones and The Draft. In the process, a rare level of excitement was generated around the band...thanks in great part to their exuberant performances, passionate and rapidly multiplying fans and songs that distilled the essence of Springsteen, Hot Water Music, The Clash and Wilson Pickett even, into a distinctive sound that is unmistakably Gaslight's very own.
Avid interest in the band has only increased since the start of this year, when the band released their EP, SENOR AND THE QUEEN (Sabot Productions), to widespread acclaim. Prolific beyond their years, Gaslight has just finished up their next full length, THE '59 SOUND, for SideOneDummy Records. Set for release on August, THE '59 SOUND was produced by Ted Hutt (Flogging Molly, Bouncing Souls, Street Dogs) and captures the band taking a striking step forward as musicians and songwriters. The result, essentially the punk rock BORN TO RUN The Boss never made, seems poised to both gratify and astound loyal longtime fans and new listeners alike.
Selected as one of Alternative Press' "100 Bands To Watch in 2008", Gaslight Anthem will be headlining Europe in June, playing Warped Tour in July in the US, headlining Australia in August and performing on the Lock Up Stage at the UK's Reading and Leeds Festivals at the end of this summer, in their first-ever UK appearances.
Joining The Gaslight Anthem on their Australian Tour will be Melbourne's A Death In The Family.
