Rowland will be playing further 'exclusive' shows at Ding Dong over the next couple of months before going into the studio to record his new album!! Australian legendary rock musician, guitarist and songwriter, is best known as a member of Melbourne's 70/80's new wave band BOYS NEXT DOOR (Nick Cave), & Howard received international acclaim for writing underground hit, the ballad "Shivers". When the band evolved into THE BIRTHDAY PARTY, Howard's aggressive use of distortion and audio feedback was one distinctive element in the group's "assault" on their audience. The Birthday Party relocated to Germany in 1982 , where they became a progressively experimental group, in part due to their art rock leanings, which were developed in the band's formative years. He then went on to form many ohter bands/& projects since including his collaborations with Lydia Lunch and Nikki Sudden, & indie band These Immortal Souls, based in Europe and active through the late 1980s and early 1990s. Currently, Rowland S. Howard lives in Melbourne, Australia and produces and performs occasionally, to the delight of a small, self-renewing audience who consider Howard to be a member of Australian underground rock royalty
