Melbourne rockers Dallas Crane played an electric set, leaving the beer bogan crowd, hot, happy and possibly stinkier than before. Drawing a crowd of people, that looked like they’d just wandered in from the local pub. It’s easy to see who Dallas Crane’s main fans are. Beer buzzed pub bogans. With a sound you’d expect to hear from the mouth of a baby fathered by Gene Simmons and the local barman, Dallas Crane, although not this Dwarfers forte, seemed to impress the cigarette smoke soaked crowd that crawled into Fowlers to support the guys.

Arriving at Fowlers, it was like stepping into some kind of twisted reality, an alternate universe, if you will. Where stonewash jeans and mullets run rife, thriving in the dark surroundings. But it was the support act Airbourne that disturbed me most. Ear piercing guitar riffs and long hair, perfect for head banging aside. The height of this dismal act came to a climax, when front man Joel O’Keeffe leapt off the stage, still clutching his guitar, ran to the bar, grabbed a stubbie, ran back through the confused crowd, launched himself back onto the stage, only to shake up the can and soak the antic -happy crowd with it.

Strange support acts aside. The crowd seemed to have a great time soaking up the energy the Dallas Crane boys were cranking. Hitting the stage dolled up in their best old jeans, wife beaters, and floral print shirts, The Boys were sure set crowd pleasers. Firing up the room from the moment they stepped onstage – or maybe that was the beer.

Playing tracks off their fourth album Factory Girls and old favourites including ‘Dirty Hearts’ ‘Ladybug’ and most popular and definitely perfect encore piece ‘Tonight’.

Vocalist Dave Larkin proved he knew how to work a crowd, with the venue being filled with happy thirty-something people, smiling from ear to ear.
The guys played an impressive set, entertaining critics and believers alike with their rock-country-electric-sound. The only disappointment being that it seems it will be a while before they hit Adelaide again.
