Even though Cog has been out of the country for five months they managed to sell out the Hi Fi Bar twice, that’s a testament to their popularity.

Over the night Flynn Gower, the lead singer thanked the crowd repeatedly, his humbling words were greatly appreciated.

A Cog gig is about atmosphere and power; the depth and density to their music is amazing throughout the show, Cog’s music has a black hole effect on the audience and by that I mean the sound’s Cog were generating would suck you into their vortex of ambience and noise. A perfect example of this was demonstrated on a new track called ‘What If?‘ A complex and anthenmic song.

It took awhile for the crowd to warm up, after about 40 minutes they started to jump around a bit, but even then the participation was sporadic at best. For those who know the Hi Fi Bar, you know the venue has an upstairs bar that look’s over the stage, I'd never watched a gig from this vantage point before, personally it gave the concert a whole different feel, and it was really interesting to see the crowd interaction from a bird’s eye view.

Having never seen Cog live before tonight - for a first time experience it was enthralling and the light show was amazing. Cog are a rare breed - they blend patriotic Aussie rock with their own brand of space rock (no offence intended) - the effect is in short mesmerizing.

At one point Flynn mentioned that they had been recording for the past five months and they weren’t even half way through the process, so they obliviously put a lot of effort into perfecting their sound that is also very reflective in their live show.

Happy 10th Birthday Hi Fi Bar you guys sure know how to put on a rock show
