I think It's safe to say that Airbourne and Dallas Ctrane ripped Ruby's Lounge a new one last night.
From the intro of an Iron Maiden song that was blasting from the speakers as Airbourne hit the stage, it was on! the next 50 minutes was full on rock and roll assault with monster riffs head banging in unision from the band and also from the audience, it was relentless throughout.
About a quater of the way through the set Joel Airbourne did his obligitory jump on the bar guitar solo bit but then he jumped off wandered out the back of the bar and helped himself to a beer; how rock is that!.
Joel Airbourne speaks like he sings with a high pitched squeal that would scare the hell out of any dog.
Airbourne's attitude to rock is second to none, if these guys can expand on this formula of classic riffs and add bit more texture to their sound their going to be huge.
Dallas Crane were going to have their work cut for them after Airbourne set,but they were more than ready for the challenge. As soon as they hit stage they ripped into a faster tempo version of 'Lovers And Sinners', my personl favourite off the new album, then for the rest of the set it was classic Crane through and through they played another personal fav of mine 'No Through Road' which I had'nt heard in ages and they also ripped out an awesome cover of the AC/DC song 'Whole Lotta Rosie' which I've only heard once before at the opening of AC/DC lane about 4 years ago.
The crowd at Ruby's were so into the Crane which makes it so much more enjoyable, no dickheads, just lovers of classic rock.
Towards the end of the set a girl threw her undies on stage and Dave Larkin proceeded to wear them on his head, whether they had been worn beforehand I dont know, then Dave invited about 6 girls on stage for free for all boogie.
After this tour Dallas Crane are heading over seas to the South By South West music conference in Texas, when the Crane land in America they wont know what hit them.
Here's hoping they embrace them as much the crowd at Rubys did last night.
