Over the last year or so Nick Oliveri has been a regular visitor to the Australian shores, he was only here a couple of months ago where he played an intimate gig at the Birmingham Hotel and before that he played on NYE at the Espy, there must be something in the water or beer that is attracting Nick time and time again. Im still a little confusd on why he Is'nt bigger or as popular as anyhting that Josh Homme ( his sparing partner from QOTSA ) has done, Nicks music is as good if not better than anyhting Josh has done, it might not have that commercial sheen that Josh's songs do, but they rock harder than any of current material Josh is pumping out.

Tonight was a showcase for Nicks new Mondo Generator album, most of the new songs were a mix of Kyuss stoner grooves and QOTSA style rock anthems, the new tracks that were played were Life's a Sin and Burn The Bridge, after nearly every song i was waiting for Nick to engulf the entire microphone, he was nearly swallowing it whole all night. When the band played the QOTSA track 'You Think I Aint Worth a Dollar, But I Feel Like a Millionaire, half the crowd wet themselves and at the end of the song Nick proceded to stage dive into the crowd and to be promptly dropped on his head.

Here's hoping that Nick gets a permanant visa and he can continue to do killer shows like this on a regualr basis.
