Curiouser and curiouser was Alice as she leapt down the rabbit hole. And Kate Miller-Heidke takes on her adventures in Wonderland with her quirky musical style.

And so she’s back on the tour bus (again) but this time with a new album - the aforementioned Curiouser - to boot. Whenever Ms Miller-Heidke struts the stage, she always brings a delectable array of travelling musos with her.

This time it was The Boat People who played a supporting set. The guys – who have been immensely quiet of late - are warming up for their own headline tour in lieu of their latest album release and their excitement is contagious.

It seemed they were glad to be back in their element, playing live to a somewhat slim, but generally appreciative crowd. Good to see them back on the scene.

But all this was only in anticipation for the Queen of the Night, who appeared in all her usual grandeur to her position centre-stage, awaiting attendants in tow, armed with instruments, bringing up the rear of the procession.

I was pleasantly surprsied to be greeted by a new playlist, which included all the new hits such as the single, Can’t Shake It, but also warmed to the familiar sounds of Little Eve that have resonated in our ears since mid 2007.

Miller-Heidke really works it onstage with her band and yet holds her own in an unquestionable way. Her poise and composure makes her seem ten-feet taller than her actual tiny size.

Dressing in an array of fancy costume, hairdos climbing to the ceiling, and a voice that demands attention, the girl knows how to stand out in a crowd.

Past opera training allows the classic-turned-popster to raise the roof with all her eccentric trills and warbles. If Kylie Minogue is a singing budgie, then Kate Miller-Heidke is a singing nightingale.

However, sometimes all the quirks and intricacies are a little too much to bear. Like Alice, she seems to be immersed in her own private Wonderland that people can only gauge a perspective from on the outside.

Not that this was a deterrent on any of the hundreds of screaming fans who are currently keeping her tour schedule packed to the rafters. She was greeted by an hysterical, all-aged crowd, who responded to her as devoted citizens to their queen of the night.

And she is the queen of her domain. Even if it is in a musical Wonderland. And that just makes me all the Curiouser
