If you read the Snowman Review from two days prior to this gig you know how much I love Red Rival – and if you haven't read it well go and do it right now! ...well, at least the first half on Red Rival so I don't have to copy and paste what I said two days prior.

These three boys rock - their songs, sound and stage presence are a wonderful thing. So I will keep it short and sweet and not repeat myself too much and move on to the band on stage next, Fell to Erin – their final show for sometime - while some members stray further afield to the mainland and overseas.

I will say from the outset I am a fan. I believe their music, time on stage and longevity as a group all translate to a fantastic live gig but there was something about this gig that didn't sit right in my mind.

Granted, I felt unwell at the beginning and was a little distracted until the water and headache tablets kicked in just after FTE hit the stage but even as I ponder back and have had a moment or three to speak with others at the gig in the light of day there was some consensus on location.

My impressions are FTE are a born and bred pub band who have played their time at many a pub in Hobart so in a way I couldn't understand why there songs to say goodbye were echoing out from the Curly's stage.

I do like the idea of a night club style venue trying to think outside of the confines of its flashing coloured lights “square”. I am all for doing your own thing and living your own life and not operating within the confines of society so perhaps it makes sense? Just because a venue appears designed for the nightclub crowd doesn't mean a good pub band can't “rock it out” within its four walls.

Curly's is a fantastic venue – its still fresh and new and untainted like a newborn babe. Its well laid out and obviously modern but still retains something relaxed and lounge-room like with its comfy couches and fireplace.... and it has an interesting and unique “fish bowl” window behind the stage which captures the outside smoking, drinking and socialising action in the courtyard at the back of the venue.

The die hard fans were there – the people who perhaps witnessed FTE's birth - stood and sang along word for word with Linc and the boys from FTE.

I expected there to be more emotion, desperation, more want for the gig not the end but it was quite civilized. I myself felt teary and I can't decide if it was the amazingly constructed set list that struck a chord in my heart, the fact that they formed around the time I was married and they were saying goodbye for the moment or if it was just me feeling a little down and yes, I am a terribly emotional girl as well...

All in all, Fell to Erin played a lovely show – the set list was retrospectively wonderful and romantic bringing the lovers out embracing and kissing in the corners, and the true and loyal fans made it to the gig and got a moment to say, hopefully, “see you soon” to one of Hobart's most loved bands.

I don't normally put a set list in its entirety but here it is for those who didn't venture out this cold April evening here it is:
