La La
6th Birthday Party
“You make me want to La La...”
That was the first thing that sprung to mind when I went to Halo to check out the 6th Birthday of a Hobart event I had so far managed to never attend.
La La – be it from the mouthes of babes – Miss Ashlee Simpson or some other pop hooking track – Halo's version was such a cool experience.
I must say in retrospect, I am pretty sad La La has never been a part of my social calender. Granted, perhaps the fact my son also recently turned 6 has something to do with this!
Halo is fast becoming one of my favorite nightclub venues in Hobart. It is balanced – Chill out Vs Dance areas – you can always find somewhere nice to sit to either take in the action or hide in a corner.
Security is always kind and helpful – something that is a welcome change within the nightclub scene in Hobart where they can often be very heavy handed in their approach to all people coming through their doors – I have found lately in the majority of venues the security often picks on everyone regardless of your intentions and whether you are even drinking.
In my case when I review I don't drink until I have finished the reviewing part to the extent where I have it sorted word wise. Otherwise I would get up the following day with no clue of what to write. There has been a number of occasions where rudeness of door staff has been astounding particularly when I am sober and taking it all in from a voyeuristic point.
The bar staff at Halo are really masters of their domain. They control the masses with surprising accuracy and grace.
Although my time was limited, only spending an hour or two at the venue in the early hours of the morning it provided me with clear insight into what to expect at La La's past and present.
The boys are gorgeous, the girls were dressed to impress (bunny ears seemed to be an important accessory with the theme of 'Welcome to the Playboy Mansion'. I missed the bunny ear memo and came in my favorite shoes and an outfit that was more about comfort than being part of Hugh Hefner's entourage.
Really when it comes to the club scene there is something important for me now as a grown woman to protect my feet and wear clothing that allows you to really get into the music without being concerned about accidental nudity. I do love to dress up and I do when the occasion fits into my fashion sense and likes – Playboy style doesn't fit within my wardrobe. I keep that sort of clothing under wraps.
I will definitely be La La'ing again soon at Halo.
