Sydney groovers Sneaky Sound System have swept the 2007 ARIA nominations, getting a total of six nominations all up. The trio have been nominated for Best Dance Album, Best Group, Best Independent Release, and Album of the Year.

Nice guy John Butler, who is no stranger to ARIA success, has also made his presence felt, receiving 5 nominations for his album, Grand National.

Also nominated for album of the year are touring monsters silverchair and Powderfinger, as well as Melbourne’s boy-wonder, Gotye.

In the Best Group category, silverchair and Powderfinger again go head to head, also competing with Eskimo Joe and Wolfmother.

On the male artist front Dan Kelly, Paul Kelly, Gotye, Josh Pyke and John Butler all got a nod, while Kasey Chambers, Kate Miller-Heidke, Katie Noonan, Missy Higgins and Sarah Blasko are all in contention for Best Female Artist.

This year’s awards will be hosted by Rove on the 28th of October, and will feature performances by silverchair, Powderfinger, Missy Higgins and the John Butler trio.
