» Billy Joel set to tour for first time in 8 years - July 17, 2006
The Frontier Touring Company announce the return of Billy Joel to Australia this November for a live concert tour of Perth, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
It will be Billy Joel’s first tour here in eight years since he toured with Elton John on the 1998 Face To Face stadium tour. This year’s visit will be Billy Joel’s first solo tour of Australia in twelve years; his last being the hugely successful 1994 River Of Dreams Tour.
Today Billy Joel is one of the world’s most popular and celebrated musicians. His numerous accolades include his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, six Grammy Awards including a Grammy Legend Award and prestigious acknowledgements of his on-going charity work.
Impressively Pollstar’s annual ‘Top 100 Tours’ report (released July 14, 2006) confirmed that for the past twelve months Billy Joel has sold more tickets to his shows than any other artist in the world, beating out the likes of Madonna and U2.
- No other American artist has performed before more Australians.
- No other artist has sold out twelve consecutive Madison Square Gardens.
- No other artist can lay claim to 33 Top 40 hits, 23 Grammy nominations and more than 100 million record sales.
With over a million tickets sold in Australia throughout his career, demand for tickets is expected to be high. Fans should get in quick when they go on sale on Monday 31 July.
