Gigantour, the traveling festival that was hailed last year by Revolver magazine as "the mother of all shred festivals" will kick off its first trip to Australia in October.

Created by Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine, Gigantour will head it's way down the East Coast in October. Megadeth will headline the bill that includes fellow heavy hitters Soulfly, Arch Enemy, Caliban and more.

"This is the concert that I, as a heavy metal music fan, would want to see," says Mustaine who handpicks the acts personally. "It is going to be something to look forward to each year, to see what kind of tremendous talent we can assemble, for Gigantour festivals in the years to come."

Tickets go on sale Tuesday 22 August at 9am.

Saturday, 21 October - The Riverstage, Brisbane
Sunday, 22 October - Hordern Pavilion, Sydney
Tuesday, 24 October - Festival Hall, Melbourne
