Prince to Purple Rain on YouTube’s Parade
Pop genius Prince says he plans to sue YouTube over the unauthorised use of his music.
In a statement released on Prince’s behalf, the fahionably-questionable artist said, “YouTube ... are clearly able (to) filter porn and pedophile material but appear to choose not to filter out the unauthorised music and film content which is core to their business success”.
Prince also has a bone to pick with eBay, which allegedly supplies the world with pirated material at the click of a button, including Prince clocks, socks, and weeping doves.
If successful, it could drastically dampen the number of hits to these giant websites.
If unsuccesful, Prince could well join the ranks of Metalicca drummer Lars Ulrich who battled Napster users in 2000, and in his own words, became the “most hated man in rock n' roll”.
