Joe Satriani vs. Coldplay

Guitarist Joe Satriani is suing Coldplay for alleged plagiarism of his 2004 song, If I Could Fly.

On 4 December 2008, Satriani filed court papers claiming a substantial portion of his song has been copied by Coldplay in their song, Viva La Vida.

While Coldplay claims on their website that any similarites "are entirely coincidental, and just as surprising to us as to him", listening to both songs indicates eerily similar chord progressions and melody.
