Sex. Drugs. Rock 'n' Roll. Breast Cancer. Quantum leap? We don't think so. Black Betty & Desert Productions are proud to present the inaugural LEGS 11, a twilight concert in support of Breast Cancer research, taking place in the heart of Sydney at The Domain on Friday October 27.

Featuring a stellar line-up as the sun goes down – including Tim Rogers & Tex Perkins with The Sydney Youth Orchestra, Sarah Blasko, Little Birdy, Clare Bowditch and the Feeding Set, plus Bob Evans – LEGS 11 is an alternate live music experience, appealing not only to the music savvy but also those looking for a night out where they can make a difference, by raising much needed money for the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF).

In addition to a superb night of Australian live music, you will be enticed by an elegant gourmet dining experience offering a selection of the world’s finest wine & cheeses. The scrumptious food on offer will tantalize your taste buds and provide a fine dining experience under the Domain’s Grand Fig Trees.

Bringing a fresh approach to an event celebrating men and women in Australian music whilst also promoting the NBCF, LEGS 11 co-producer Kristen Francis says:"After years of attending festivals featuring a high percentage of men onstage, we wanted to produce an event that we, as women, could relate to. Something that was sophisticated yet relaxed and showcased artists of diversity. “Suffice to say, we’re producing an event that features a good balance of men and women, not only onstage but in the audience as well, and aligning this with a worthwhile cause. Breast cancer reflects this idea: it’s a disease that affects men as well as women, not only as sufferers, but also as husbands, fathers, brothers and sons.”

In what will be an undoubtedly spectacular first, appearing at Legs 11 are rock ‘n roll heavyweights Mr Tex Perkins (The Cruel Sea, Beasts of Bourbon) and Mr Tim Rogers (You Am I, The Temperence Union) – aka TnT. With the help of The Sydney Youth Orchestra, TnT will put away their gloves and reach into their collective pasts to perform historical hits from their individual repertoires, coupled with tracks from their soon-to-be released joint effort, “My Better Half”.

In a continued stack of firsts for Legs 11, following on from the success of her four-time ARIA nominated debut, “The Overture & the Underscore” (including Album of the Year), Sarah Blasko’s impending follow-up release will be showcased live for the very first time at Legs 11. Recorded in New York, Sydney and New Zealand, Blasko returns to her home turf to unveil her latest offering.

We are also thrilled to have Little Birdy bring their swaggering, seductive sound to the bill. Their new album “Hollywood” -recorded, you guessed it – in Hollywood has just been released, with their new single “Come On Come On” already hitting the airwaves. This will be one of the first chances for Sydney-siders to hear the new sound that is Little Birdy in Hollywood, a sound that is sure to become the backdrop to the Sydney summer of 2006.

We’re also thrilled to bring one of Australia’s most celebrated singer/songwriters, Clare Bowditch, and her band The Feeding Set, to the Legs 11 bill. Hailed as our own answer to the likes of Beth Orton and Cat Power, Clare’s mesmerising brand of pop folk has stunned audiences since the release of her first album, “Autumn Bone”. However, it was her sophomore release, “What Was Left”, which saw her raw storytelling receive critical acclaim and commercial success.

Last but by all means not least, Bob Evans – the alter-ego of Jebediah’s Kevin Mitchell – will present his songs about life’s simple pains and pleasures at Legs 11. Kevin’s second album, “Suburban Songbook”, incorporates country, pop, soul and folk influences, with subject matter involving broken down cars and falling in and out of love. They’re songs based around an acoustic guitar, a pop melody and honest lyrics, all inspired by the humble life of a suburban kid brought up in Perth, Western Australia.

Tickets to this sensational evening go on sale Friday September 1st, the first day of Spring. In buying a ticket, you are helping us in our ultimate goal to raise substantial funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation so they can continue their vital research and education needed to halt the spread of this indiscriminate disease.

Unlike other outdoor rock n’ roll events on the music calendar, the capacity for Legs 11 is intimate in comparison. Don’t miss out on this incredible night – bring your loved ones and treat yourself to an exquisite and unforgettable evening of entertainment.
