Oz singer Maddy Hay makes Euro waves
» Madelina hits the Toff - August 28, 2009
Fresh from the European launch of her debut album Smoke In The City, 21-year-old Melbourne artist Maddy Hay (formally known as Madelina) returns to Australian shores to prepare for a string of intimate performances, bringing her unique blend of pop to Australian fans over the summer.
2009 has been a whirlwind year for Maddy. Her imaginative and unique compositions combined with the seductive tone of a singer from a by gone era - has ensured the support of the local Melbourne music scene, but Maddy never dreamt that this would also attract interest from major labels on the other side of the world.
Whilst still remaining an unsigned artist in her home country, Maddy’s heavy promo schedule in Holland saw her single ‘Smoke In The City’ rocket up the charts, reaching the following results:
Album of the week on both Radio 1 and Radio 2 as well as on ten of the 12 Dutch Regional Radio stations.
Smoke In The City was added to the Radio 1 play list.
Top 5 on Newcomers list.
Airplay chart position of 91 (jumping from 324 in the first week).
Whilst her debut album Smoke In The City is still yet to be picked up for release in Australia, it is available for purchase via iTunes Netherlands. Limited edition handmade copies of Maddy's beautiful EP Dance will be available exclusively at her live shows.
Maddy Hay’s first show back in Australia will be at the East Brunswick Club (Melbourne) on October 28.
