St Kilda Live N Local

Delivering the biggest stage for emerging artists, the St Kilda Festival’s Live N Local celebrates a great line-up of music, punctuated with salsa dancing, comedy and cinema nights, a surf lifesaving carnival and more; showcasing the best of the iconic seaside suburb as part of Victoria’s largest annual free music festival, the St Kilda Festival.

Today Republica at the St Kilda Seabaths will host Dan Webb alongside songstress Kylie Auldist, acclaimed vocalist for Australia’s premier funk & soul band The Bamboos. This evening, up and coming head-banging Metal musicians will flock to the All Metal Forum to hear tips and tricks from the experts including how to get a gig; and where to tour in a series of discussions led by the Music Managers Forum.

The Festival’s Indigenous celebration, Yalukit Willam Ngargee, reaches a crescendo tonight with Black Icons, an event paying homage to artists who have shaped Aboriginal identity, reflects on Coloured Stone’s iconic album, Koonibba Rock, joined by special guest singers including Lady Lash, Liz Cavanagh, Richard Frankland, Peter Rotumah and Rory Ellis at the St Kilda Bowls Club, 66 Fitzroy St.

Beyond the music, Live N Local is offering free BoxingFit classes on the beach to kick off each Festival day and on Saturday, bronzed beach volleyballers will turn out for the Victorian Beach Volleyball Open with international, national and state players sweating it out in front of crowds for the glory of the Victorian title.
