The future of live music will be reshaped Friday the 26th of January with the official launch of Global Music Cam, a free online service that allows anyone with an internet connection to view their favourite artists perform live, anywhere in the world. The official launch of Global Music Cam will feature a live performance by Melbourne artists Armen Firman, as they perform a special Australia Day show at The Northcote Social Club.

Global Music Cam is a high-speed internet site that allows artists to broadcast their performances live to a global audience. Viewers receive audio direct from the venue mixing desk, allowing a crystal clear broadcast of any live performance, while viewing pics provided by a ‘webcam’ at the venue. It is a world first service that will expand to include all genres of music and live performance throughout more than 30 countries by the end of the year.

Global Music Cam offers both performers and audiences alike the opportunity to interact via the internet in a simple, straight-forward, and most importantly, live setting.

Musicians can broadcast their performances live from any venue in the world. Using audio, video and data broadcast technology, Global Music Cam exposes up-and-coming underground acts, and internationally established artists alike.

For the first time ever, audiences the world over can view their favourite artists live, without the limitations of cost, location, or exclusivity of performances. Want to join your favourite band on tour, and catch every single gig along the way? Then log on!

So how does it work?

For the Venue/Musician/DJ to broadcast live:

Requirements: laptop, broadband, webcam/HD camera, audio jack from desk to laptop, username and www.globalmusiccam.com .

Years ago, this kind of technology was bulky, inept, and expensive. However, Global Music Cam is celebrating the new technological age, which sees 90% of music venues equipped with broadband internet, by allowing musicians to connect with a much larger audience.

For the Punter/Audience to view LIVE:

Requirements: Username and www.globalmusiccam.com It’s as easy as that.

Global Music Cam will expand in 2007 to include

Features
Multiple Cams - View a whole screen full of live cams at once from all round the world.
Performer Chat Locator - Easily find the chat room where a Band or Dj Broadcasting is chatting. Update Notification - Get an email when and where live broadcasts will be happening.Gallery - See all performers photos and bios.
