In 2010 Eddi Reader toured Australia and sold out across the board where she captivated and enchanted audiences. In 2012 she is delighted to be returning to the Theatre Royal and performing in quartet mode.
Eddi is without a doubt one of the world’s finest vocalists. From the heady days in the 80s with Fairground Attraction and the worldwide hit Perfect, to her stunning interpretations of the Songs of Robert Burns for which she was awarded an MBE, Eddi continues to shine as an artist. Her vocal range is extraordinary, her live performances second to none. From the traditional to the contemporary, Eddi brings joyous life to all forms of song. Her taste in co-writers, writers, songs and players is impeccable and anything with her name on it is guaranteed musical treasure. Whilst the perfection of her technique is widely acknowledged, what sets Reader apart is the depth and quality of the emotional performance; her ability not only to move the listener but to connect her experience to that of her audience. Her passion and instinct move people in a way reminiscent of those who have influenced her work. Her rare blend of meltingly true vocals and towering romanticism combine with an astute and pragmatic nature to make her a unique and powerful figure in contemporary British music. She has effortlessly developed into one of popular music’s most thrilling and affecting performers.
Her quartet features stunning artists in their own right, Boo Hewerdine, Alan Kelly and Ian Carr.
““The sense of fun and the amount of sheer love for music of all genres that Reader has, coupled with the craft with which she performs makes her one of Scotland's greatest national treasures and most vibrant natural resources. The only thing wrong with the show was that it had to end sometime.” Martin Lennon, The Scotsman
"Eddi Reader's voice is an undeniably awesome thing. Her ability to swoop, soar and generally take your breath away has been a proven fact since Fairground Attraction's First Of A Million Kisses in 1988." - BBC Music
