Australia’s premiere hip hop crew HILLTOP HOODS are hitting the road this coming July for what promises to be one of this year’s most highly anticipated tours. Supporting the release of their forthcoming album “State Of The Art, the National tour kicks off on Saturday July 18th in Sydney and takes in all Capital cities including a slot on this year’s Splendour in the Grass.
While its been a long time coming, the eagerly awaited fifth studio album “State of the Art will finally be released on June 12th and is everything Hoods fans could wish for. It’s dark, heavy, challenging, raw and occasionally funny, and has already spawned their first radio hit with Chase That Feeling taking over the airwaves across the country since release.
Performing their first headline dates since 2006, HILLTOP HOODS will showcase new songs to the world including the first single Chase That Feeling and album tracks Still Standing and The Return alongside classic crowd favourites The Hard Road, Clown Prince and The Nosebleed Section. The shows also promise to bring together the best of local and international Hip Hop artists with special guests CLASSIFIED and BRIGGS joining the national traveling bill.
Main support on the national tour is Canadian Hip Hop Heavyweight CLASSIFIED.With a new album “Self-Explanatory on the shelves this past month, the latest record (his 11th) and his first major label release through Sony Records is a testament to his hard working ethos and his uncompromising creativity. With a career built on the independent circuit CLASSIFIED has developed into a highly respected MC who is set to bring his unique sounds to Australia for the first time this coming June.
Opening honours go to the highly talented 22-year-old Victorian rapper BRIGGS. With no fixed address and an overdrawn bank account, emerging young artist BRIGGS has recently finished his debut EP “Homemade Bombs to much acclaim nation wide. Said to be the product of “the Hilltop Hoods and the Funkoars having a baby and not raising it right, BRIGGS, brings his own brand of class-clown, hard-hitting hip-hop to the opening slot of the show.
Continuing to rewrite the Hip Hop rulebook, the HILTOP HOODS look forward to sharing their new chapter with both old and new fans alike as they hit the road this coming July on the State of The Art National tour.
