Aussie indie pop maestros The Boat People set the world stage alight in 2008 and 2009 with a hailstorm of worldwide critical acclaim in the for their live shows and sophomore album “Chandeliers.
They played The Great Escape UK, CMJ Music Marathon NYC, toured the UK twice, played shows in L.A. including the Viper Room, Spaceland, a live set on the highly influential Morning Becomes Eclectic on KCRW, won a CMJ grand prize, and gained rotation at over 20 radio stations across the US. Needless to say, it was a productive trip.
So productive in face that they returned to the US in early 2009 to tour and make their debut appearance at SXSW where they were hailed as one of Australia’s biggest buzz bands. Now, as you read this, the boys are packing their bags for another whirlwind trip to the US in June for further touring.
On another note, the band have been demoing new material in their home studio - those who attended Greenfest in Brisbane recently were treated to five brand new tracks very much in their infancy. They are set to release a new single from their upcoming third album in September 2009.
On the national tour front, The Boaties will return from the States and leap right into a round of shows around the country. See full details below.
