Young people have the opportunity to access free hands on music industry workshops as part of The Push Annual 2009 FReeZA Summit, Friday 10 July at Brunswick Town Hall.

The Summit will feature guest speakers, event and artist advice, live performances and networking opportunities.

Funded by the Office for Youth and managed by The Push, the Summit will provide valuable information to young people on engaging with the community and creating their own music and cultural events.

Local band Dash & Will, who played knockout performances at The Falls, Homebake and Push Over festivals will offer advice on the all-ages scene and touring, and play an exclusive live lunch-time acoustic performance.

Renowned local songwriter and musician, Charles Jenkins presents a master-class on song-writing, performance, recording a demo using Pro-Tools and all things music.

Producer, engineer and mixer Jimi Maroudas (Eskimo Joe, Bertie Blackman), will take you through a Pro Tools recording session and pull apart a mix to demonstrate how it’s done.

Andrew Kitchen, from The Push discusses hot topics from the 2008 Face The Music Conference, including tips on record deals, management, getting your music on radio, promotions and touring.

Plus representatives from the Office for Youth, FReeZA and APRA, will be talking about a range of issues on staging your own events, from licensing requirements, to setting up a PA.
