If there ever were a metal super group to end all metal super groups, it would have to be Louisiana’s Down. They first hit the scene 17 years ago, featuring members from some of metal’s premiere bands (Pantera, Corrosion of Conformity, Crowbar and EyeHateGod). This is chemistry. This is the solution. This is the band people will lie about and say that they were into from the beginning.

Down is a band, moulded and twisted by their environment. Passionate, focused, hanging on to their NOLA pride and upbringing, much like Louisiana's Spanish moss drifting and swaying from hurricane and termite damaged Magnolia trees. Shedding the skins of their former bands, Down now has room to breathe and a great chance of becoming one of the most profound doom-rock-blues-metal hybrids in musical history.

Only releasing new albums every 4-5 years and then fading into the shadows, Down have become renowned for letting the anticipation of their re-emergence grow within their devoted fan base. This sequence of events has happened between each of their releases, the brilliant debut ‘Nola’ (1995), ‘Down II- A Bustle in Your Hedgerow’ (2002), and now the six year wait is over with their third studio album ‘Down III-Over the Under’. Inspired by tragedy — Hurricane Katrina and the death of Dimebag Darrell — it delivers an hour worth of bone crunching, doomy, blues, swamp soaked epic metal.…”I doubt we'll hear another release this year that is as hauntingly powerful and poignant as this one” – Sea Of Tranquility.

Down has risen a certain flag high for every piss poor jealous fool to see. There is no label for what they do, as are there no labels for the bands that shared members with them. In what will be their first ever headline tour of Australia and coming fresh off a European tour with Metallica, Down are looking to make up for lost time…
