jackson jackson is the psychedelic collective of musicians led by Harry James Angus (Vocals/Trumpet; The Cat Empire) and Producer/composer Jan Skubiszewski (Two Hands (APRA award winner), The Rage In Placid Lake, Last Man Standing).
Featuring a wall of synthesisers, drums, guitars, an MPC and soaring melodies from the 5 piece vocal section; the live show is where epic retro comes face to face with the future.
Jackson jackson has the mystery and intensity of a Tarantino film coupled with the whimsy of a musical, a touch of disco and plenty of straight up musicality.
jackson jacksons first album The Fire Is on The Bird (Virgin records 2007) was rated by THE AGE newspaper (Melbourne) as the 2nd best album of 2007, also earning the band a final ARIA Nomination in the hip-hop category (07), and a song (Eliza) in Triple J’s Hot 100.
These social prophets of the New Apocalypso Beat managed to fly just under the radar in ‘07, while quietly but quickly gaining huge momentum on the live scene, playing the main stage at Falls Festival & Blues & Roots, and headlining their own shows nationally.
The live stage is packed with talent well known on Australian and international stages. Jackson Jackson shares the same rhythm-section as The Cat Empire. With Harry Angus up front as ring leader, Jan Skubiszewski on the MPC and guitar, and a choir featuring the likes of Elana Stone, Rebecca Ari & Karishma Sadhai – this is a show big enough to make any venue scream “we haven’t got enough microphones”.
If you got onto this band early, and count yourself in their top 1000 friends, you can expect to have to share jackson jackson this year with the release of their new album TOOLS FOR SURVIVAL slated for October 08 on Virgin/EMI.
The band will grace stages nationally with old and new songs and new outfits!
