Diesel
Project Blues
‘Saturday Suffering Fools’ Tour

In the great blues tradition of ‘Short Cool Ones,’ the 1996 Gold-selling ARIA Award nominated blues release from Diesel and Chris Wilson (under the Wilson Diesel moniker,) Diesel returns once again to the studio and his roots to produce ‘Saturday Suffering Fools.’
Slated for a June 3 release through Liberation and comprising some freshly unearthed blues gems and some original songs, the record features long-term Diesel band members Richie Vez and Lee Moloney, as well as Bernie Bremond (ex the Injectors and an integral part of Diesel’s musical history) and father Hank Lizotte, along with brothers Mike and Brian Lizotte on horns. Amazingly, Bremond returns to the fold more than 20 years after he and Diesel first teamed up as the Injector and moved from Perth to Sydney to seek fame and fortune in the late 80’s.
The song selection includes some absolute classics from the likes of Buddy Guy, Albert King and Elmore James (to name just a few) and an extraordinary rendition of a Don Gardener song from the 60’s titled ‘My Baby Likes To Boogaloo’ which comes like a blow to your scone with a mallet. In fact, it’s just under three minutes of explosive soul/funk savagery, in which Diesel whips the band into a blues frenzy. Other obvious standouts include ‘Them Changes,’ originally from Buddy Miles and Buddy Guy’s ‘First Time I Met The Blues’ along with originals ‘Whiskey and Weed’ and ‘Walkin’ The Blues’ for which a live video is now available.
And to celebrate the release of ‘Saturday Suffering Fools,’ Diesel and band embark on a national blues tour, kicking off in Perth on July 1st. Opening the live show will be selections from ‘Saturday Suffering Fools’ plus the night will feature cuts from the 1996 blues release ‘Short Cool Ones’ before Diesel and his bad rewind through some of his back catalogue reconnecting with their blues roots.
